Pickamania! “A Cajun Music History Workshop,” NEW

Due to the positive response by the community to the workshops, Mimbres Region Arts Council has added yet another workshop at the last minute, “A Cajun Music History Workshop,” with the Pine Leaf Boys. This workshop will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, This is offered free of charge to individuals enrolled in other workshops and for $10 to those who would like to enroll in this session only. The Pine Leaf Boys whose roots run deep in Cajun history and heritage, will walk attendees through the development of Cajun music from its birth through today giving examples from each era.

OngoingMining District Historical Mine Tours
The Mining District Historical mine tour begins at the Bayard City Hall on the second Tuesday of every month. People are asked to call the City Hall at 537-3327 and let them know you plan to attend the tour so we will know what size bus to request. The price of the tour is $5.00 and a tour guide and brochures will be furnished. The tour goes from Bayard to Santa Rita with five stops in between where the guide will give a bit of history and interesting happenings in the local underground mines at each stop.
