The November meeting of the Gila Native Plant Society will feature a talk by Patrice Mutchnick entitled “Gila Wilderness Canyon Flora: Natives and the Riparian Invasion.” This past summer, with help from a grant from the National Wilderness Stewardship Alliance, the Heart of the Gila organization held four canyon stewardship days and executed a five-day field trip to inventory canyon natives and identify and remove non-native plant species from riparian corridors. The talk will include extensive photo documentation and data from the project and offer insights into the floral diversity of several remote side canyons of the Gila River. Free and open to the public. Refreshments following the program. For further information check our website at www.gilanps.org/events/programs/.
