The Gila Native Plant Society meeting this month will feature a presentation by Ron Parry on “Moths of the Gila National Forest and Vicinity.” The Lepidoptera is an order of insects that includes both butterflies and moths. Unlike butterflies, moths are little appreciated since they are largely nocturnal. Yet many moths are beautiful and their biology is equally interesting. This talk will summarize the characteristics of moths in each of the main families found within the Gila region and provide examples of local moths from each group. The meeting is free and open to the public. Refreshments following the program. For further information check our website at www.gilanps.org/events/programs/.
