Please join us for the April 2024 Chamber Luncheon with two featured guest speakers on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Grant County Veterans Memorial Business and Conference Center.
Our first speaker will be Bernadette Smyth, Executive Director of the Grant County Community Foundation. She has extensive and varied experience as a community development specialist, grant writer, project manager, consultant, creative writer, editor, and professor. She has worked for educational institutions, governmental entities, and non-profits around the world, including NMSU in Las Cruces, Suffolk University in Boston, Gemini Ink in San Antonio Texas, Jefferson County Public Health in Washington State, and various state and community organizations in Ireland. She is a native of Ireland but considers New Mexico her natural U.S. home.
Our second featured guest speaker is Robert Whitaker, Chief Executive Officer of Gila Regional Medical Center. Mr. Whitaker is originally from Houston, Texas, and has lived in New Mexico for two years with his wife, Amy, and their children. Before that, he lived in Kansas for 7 years and has also lived in Connecticut, North Carolina, Florida, and Nevada. Mr. Whitaker has worked in hospital finance and administration since 2008. Before health care, he worked in chemical plants and refineries as a plant operator in Houston, Texas. Mr. Whitaker has his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Houston, his Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston, and his Master of Public Health from Yale University. Mr. Whitaker enjoys cycling, outdoor activities, and day/weekend trips with the family.
Lunch will be provided by Savory Kitchen and Catering.
