The Tour of the Gila is a 5 day (4 days for Sr. Men 4,5 and Women 3,4) stage race, consisting of  3 Road Races, an Individual Time Trial and a Criterium (2 road races, an Individual Time Trial and a Criterium for Sr. Men 4,5 and Women 3,4). The overall winner to be decided on basis of lowest overall time for all races.

NEW FOR 2008:  The 5-day stage race format will change for 2008.  The new format will be the following: Stage 1:  Silver City to Mogollon Road Race, Stage 2: The Inner Loop Road Race, Stage 3: Tyrone Individual Time Trials, Stage 4: Downtown Silver City Criterium and Stage 5: Gila Monster Road Race.

The Sr.Men 4,5 race and the Women 3,4 race will now be a 4-day stage race.  The new format will be the following: Stage 1: The Inner Loop Road Race, Stage 2: Tyrone Individual Time Trials, Stage 3: Downtown Silver City Criterium and Stage 4: Gila Monster Road Race.

The Men 40+ race will now be a Men 35+ race.
Men Pro,1 and Women Pro,1,2:  We will offer travel vouchers in 2008.  There will be 8 travel vouchers available to the men?s teams and 8 travel vouchers available to the women?s teams. This system will work on a first come first served basis.  For Men Pro,1, paid entry for a team of 8 will receive a $500 travel voucher, $400 for a team of 6.  For Women Pro,1,2, paid entry for a team of 6 will receive a $500 travel voucher, $400 for a team of 4.
 
SPECIAL COMPETITIONS:
*Men Pro,1: In addition to individual stage and g.c. prizes, there will be again this year a team g.c. competition. Team entry is encouraged, although individual entry is also permitted. Teams must consist of 4 to 8 riders. No more than 8 riders from a club/team may enter, either as individuals or a team. Composite teams may be entered - they must wear matching jerseys. Teams will receive a $5 discount per rider - reimbursed at registration.
 
*Women Pro,1,2: In addition to individual stage and g.c. prizes, there will be again this year a team g.c. competition. Team entry is encouraged, although individual entry is also permitted. Teams must consist of 4 to 6 riders. No more than 6 riders from a club/team may enter, either as individuals or a team. Composite teams may be entered - they must wear matching jerseys. *Sr. Men 3/35+: Sr. Men 3 who are 35+ will be eligible both for the overall prizes and a separate set of g.c. prizes for 35+ riders ($300).
 
*Sr. Men 4,5/35+: Sr. Men 4/5 who are 35+ will be eligible both for the overall prizes and a separate set of g.c. prizes for 35+ riders ($200).
 
*Men 35+/45+/55+: Riders in the 35+ event who are 45+ will be eligible both for the overall prizes and a separate set of g.c. prizes for 45+ riders ($200). Riders in the 35+ event who are 55+ will be eligible for the overall prizes, 45+ prizes, and a separate set of g.c. prizes for 55+ riders ($200).

Field Limits for Men Pro, 1; Sr. Men 2; Sr. Men 3 and Sr. Men 4,5 are expected to fill.

HOUSING:

Every year we manage to find free housing for a large number of riders. Those returning riders who wish to stay with the same hosts as last year must contact their host family by March 1 or YOU WILL LOSE YOUR HOUSING. REGISTRATION AND NUMBER PICK-UP SCHEDULE:

Entrants may register and pick-up their race packets at Gila Hike & Bike, 103 E. College Ave, 575-388-3222, from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m, Tuesday April 29.  Sr. Men 4,5 and Women 3,4 may register at Gila Hike & Bike, 103 E. College Ave, 575-388-3222, Wednesday, April 30 from 5:00-9:00 p.m.  There will be late registration for Sr. Men 4,5 and Women 3,4 the morning of the start of the race in Pinos Altos, Thursday, May 1 at 7:15 a.m.

All categories racing 5 days MUST register or pick up race packets at Gila Hike & Bike, Silver City, April 29, Tuesday 12 noon - 5 p.m.

All categories racing 5 days (Number Pick-up Only): Gough Park, Silver City, April 30, Wednesday 7 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

Sr. Men 4,5 and Women 3,4: Registration and packet pick-up at Gila Hike & Bike, Silver City, April 30, Wednesday, 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Sr. Men 4,5, Women 3,4: Late registration and packet pick-up at the Buckhorn Opera House, Pinos Altos, May 1, Thursday, 7:15 a.m.
