| Jun 15 | 3:30 pm Grant County Food Policy Council task force meetingThe public is invited to the next task force meeting to review a draft county resolution and proclamation that would formally establish the Grant County Food Policy Council. The meeting will be held at the Grant County Business and Conference Center on Tuesday, June 15, from 3:30-5 PM. The time and date were chosen to try and accommodate as many schedules as possible; however, if you are not able to attend, please email asauer@grmc.org if you would like to receive a copy of the proclamation and resolution.
The Grant County Food Policy Council would be an organization composed of a variety of groups and individuals working on issues arising from food and agricultural systems across Grant County. Representation from the agriculture, ranching, health, human and social services, food-related businesses and organizations, environment, education, economics, nutrition, transportation, government, legal, land and water organizations, agriculture commodity organizations, small scale food industries, distributors, local farmers market, grocers, cooperatives, restaurants, schoools, recipients of food and agricultural programs, consumers, and all others connected to our local food system are invited to attend and provide input.

| Jun 26 | 1:00 pm "Remembering Bataan--Honoring Our Heroes" Mural DedicationThe Mimbres Region Arts Council would like to invite you to attend the public dedication of a new mural sponsored by the Silver City Rotary Club, honoring World War II veterans, particularly those who survived the Bataan Death March.
Students from Sarah Pineda’s Cobre High School art class worked with local professional artist, Karen Carr and Project Coordinator Diana Ingalls Leyba, to produce the commemorative mural. Students researched the history of the Bataan Death March, interviewing local survivor, Tommy Foy, and the daughter of Felix Salas deceased.
The mural has been produced using acrylic paints directly on the wall.

| | Ongoing | Mining District Historical Mine Tours The Mining District Historical mine tour begins at the Bayard City Hall on the second Tuesday of every month. People are asked to call the City Hall at 537-3327 and let them know you plan to attend the tour so we will know what size bus to request. The price of the tour is $5.00 and a tour guide and brochures will be furnished. The tour goes from Bayard to Santa Rita with five stops in between where the guide will give a bit of history and interesting happenings in the local underground mines at each stop.
