Traditions Revisited
8 October - 29 November


Entries received at the Silver City Museum for "Traditions Revisited," a quilt exhibit co-sponsored by the Museum and the Southwest New Mexico Quilters Cuild. Bed quilts, wall hangings, miniatures or doll quilts, and clothing may be entered in either Contemporary or Heirloom (completed prior to 1960) categories. The show is not juried, but Director's Choice, Curator's Choice and Viewer's Choice ribbons will be awarded. "Traditions Revisited" will run from October 9 through November 29. Application information includes quilt dimensions and should be filled out in advance. For application forms, call Consuelo Hester at 388-4856 or Kathy Cole at 388-5847 or pick up at the Silver City Museum.

The plan includes community outreach and assessment, a market study, a parking plan, a recommended way-finding system (signage) and an interactive website. Spaghetti Dinner & Christmas Tree Auction
21 November

5pm to 8pm Dinner will be served from 5pm to 7pm. Menu consists of spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, drink and dessert. Cost if $5/person. The Christmas Tree Auction will be from 7pm to 8pm. Various sizes of decorated, artificial trees will be auctioned. Door prizes will be given throughout the event. The Chamber office will be one of the ticket outlets for this event.

Historic Fort Bayard Walking Tour

Historic Fort Bayard Walking Tours—Come see the 100 year old buildings and relive some of the history of this important military fort and hospital. Kathy Hill, who grew up at Fort Bayard will be your guide. Meet at the theater which is located on the north-east side of the hospital.  Although the tour is free, donations to support the preservation of Fort Bayard National Historic Landmark are always accepted. Lighted Christmas Parade: Home for Christmas
28 November

All downtown streets lights will be extinguished at 7pm and the parade will begin its descent down Broadway from the Grant County Courthouse and continue up Bullard Street to Pope Street. Bullard and Broadway will be closed to parking at 5:30pm and to traffic at 6pm. We hope to see everyone out this night, enjoying one of our delightful holiday events. Downtown businesses will stay open late (until parade starts) to allow for holiday shopping.
