We are so glad that you are exploring the information provided here, and we look forward to showing you our studios in person. Our studio features: spacious dance areas with sprung wood floors covered by Marley dance floor. Climate controlled to keep our dancers comfortable in all seasons. Dressing areas with room to warm-up & cool down. And, a complete dancwear store, Studio II Dancewear, which features dancewear and dance related supplies at very reasonable prices.

The Conservatory of Danceunder the direction of Melinda Shaner is proud to offer a wide range of classes for students ages two and a half years old through adult. A core curriculum of ballet is emphasized‚ however other forms of dance are also taught by mature qualified instructors. Students at the Conservatory of Dance are encouraged to study for fun‚ enjoyment and for their own personal development. We are not a competition based studio‚ we are a studio where everyone can learn and grow in the art of dance. We are dedicated to providing the best possible dance experience by applying a professional approach to instruction at a reasonable rate and to enriching our students as individuals.

Melinda Shaner‚ Artistic Director for the Conservatory has been teaching dance for over 30 years and has been a studio owner for the past 28 years in the Redlands/Yucaipa area of California from where she moved two years ago. She holds a degree in Dance from the University of CA‚ Riverside and a Community College Lifetime Credential from the state of CA. She has continued her dance training by attending workshops‚ conventions and seminars throughout the country‚ including attending the NDI-NM teacher training workshop in Sante Fe in September‚ 2006.

Melinda Shaner has been the choreographer for Theatre Group New Mexico's productions of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat," "Fiddler On The Roof," "Aladdin, Jr." and "Oklahoma."

Students are placed in classes according to their ability and not only according to their age. Classes are divided by levels and students most cover all material at one level before moving onto the next level. Please be assured that all material taught at Conservatory of Dance will be appropriate and suitable for the age group being taught.

In addition to classes‚ interested students may work toward membership in Conservatory Ensemble Performing Group‚ which provides entertainment for service clubs‚ schools‚ rest homes‚ etc.

Both Conservatory of Dance and STUDIO II DANCEWEAR are located at 2020 Cottage San Road in Silver City.
