Join us on Saturday, December 17 from 12 pm to 2 pm at the Silver City Museum to create your own ornaments using tin and aluminum, just in time for the holidays. Learn to emboss and color, while choosing from a variety of designs or make your own. Use them to decorate your home or hang them on your tree! These unique ornaments will shine festively in your own home, or make great gifts. Tinwork is a traditional New Mexican craft dating to the early 1800's. Primarily created for the church, it became a time-honored art that has extended from the church and into people’s homes and is iconic to New Mexican culture. Adults and children are welcome. Due to the sharpness of the metal, we recommend children ages 10+ attend, and with adult supervision. This workshop is free, a $5 suggested donation and registration is encouraged! Please call the Museum Educator at (575) 538-5921 or e-mail at education@silvercitymuseum.org.
