Printmaking in the street? Mimbres Region Arts Council (MRAC) is starting a regional artist print festival, well actually fiesta! Join MRAC in creating a new tradition celebrating original prints, the artists who create them and the people who collect them. Start your art collection with affordable art! Artists’ works starting at $10 and up!
The fiesta will take place Labor Day Weekend, September 3, 12 noon - 11 pm, on Yankie Street and at Seedboat Gallery, 214 Yankie St., Silver City, NM.
Throughout the day large-scale hand carved artists blocks will be inked and placed on Yankie Street. Once inked, a 3,000-pound Silver Steamroller (think steamroller without the steam) will roll over the blocks to create large artist prints. See it to believe it!
Meet Mitch Lyons fiesta artist-in-residence. Watch printmaking demonstrations and try free print making activities. Artist’s booths will offer fine art prints, letterpress creations and more for sale. Listen to Americana style music by local and regional artists. Enjoy delicious food and NM craft beer in the beer garden. Finish the day by dancing in the street with music and a light show provided by Knomad.Colab from 8-11 pm.
Be there for a day of fun! For more information contact: MRAC, located in the Wells Fargo Bank building, 1201 Pope St. Tue-Fri, 9-4, or visit: www.southwestprintfiesta.org, or call 575.538.2505.
