November 2024 Chamber Membership Meeting & Luncheon

Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Grant County Veterans Memorial Business and Conference Center
This month's featured guest speaker: Ed Young, Business Services Consultant with Equus Workforce Solutions
Mr. Young will be discussing WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) OJT Programs that are offered to employers and job seekers in the southwestern part of New Mexico.
Ed Young was raised in Los Alamos, educated at ENMU in Portales, and then moved to Silver City in 1974. He has been here since then, except for a brief job transfer to Hobbs, NM and Abilene, TX in the 1980s. Ed and his wife have no plans to leave Grant County again as this will always be their home. In Silver City, he has worked numerous jobs in finance, retail, insurance, customer service, healthcare, and human resources. He came out of an early retirement to work for Equus as a Business Services Consultant about a year ago. In that role, he has had the privilege of reaching out to area-wide employers and sharing the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA Title 1) benefits with them and participating job applicants. WIOA is a contracted partner with the New Mexico Workforce Connection and work hand-in-hand with the NM Department of Workforce Solutions. Administering the WIOA programs is a win-win proposition for Ed, the employers, and applications with whom he works.
Lunch will be provided by Mi Casita Restaurant.
