The Grant County Trails Group, in collaboration with the Continental Divide Trail Coalition, has scheduled the a community hike for Sunday, April 17, from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. The hike will begin at the Gomez Peak Picnic Area Trailhead.
The trail varies in difficulty between minimal incline to high incline. Public restrooms, picnic tables, shade, and water fountains are available at the picnic area.
Directions: Travel North on Little Walnut Road approximately three miles to the Gomez Peak Trailhead parking lot where the group will meet (left-hand side of the road).
Please be prepared with sturdy hiking shoes, long sleeve shirts, pants, sunglasses, sunscreen and water. Please have your dogs on a leash during the hike. The Continental Divide Trail Coalition is working on providing a shuttle from town.
A Word of Caution: This hike may be challenging for some people. You should always speak to your doctor before starting or stopping any part of your healthcare plan, including physical activity, or other exercise.Consider asking a partner to join you on these hikes for support and bring a walking stick to help with balance.
