Where is it?
The Community Built Park is at 1305 N Grant, parallel to and 1 block west of Pope Street, 1 block north of 12th street, and 1/2 block south of Highway 180.
The Red Hot Children's Fiesta is a GO for 2007! The Fiesta is set for Saturday, September 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Penny Park, the Community Built Park.
The Red Hot Children's Fiesta is a child and family community resource fair where agencies, organizations and groups offering services to Grant County Families could turn out and share their information with the community. Each group sponsors a fun activity for children--face painting, puppet making, mask making, obstacle course, bubble blowing, craft making--while handing out useful information to the parents/guardians of the children.
LifeQuest Early Intervention initiated the event several years ago and the Children's Life Cycle took over the event, which was incredibly successful in 2005 with more 1,000 residents participating in the day-long fiesta at Penny Park. The Family Resiliency Community Action Team (FICCS) of the Health Council is overseeing the Red Hot Children's Fiesta this year. FICCS is focusing its energy on bringing families together to play (as it builds bonds in families and keeps them unified).
If you or your agency need any help with thinking of a fun activity, call Kim at Toytown (505) 388-1677.

If you are interested in aiding with the planning of the fiesta, a subcommittee of FICCS is being formed. This Red Hot Children's Fiesta Planning Committee will meet only 3 to 4 times before the fiesta and once afterwards to evaluate the event. The first RHCF Planning subcommittee meets on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the Health Council's office, 3202 N. Ridge Loop (corner of 32nd St. and Ridge Loop). It's a short-term subcommittee that really gets things done! The more agencies involved the better the event will be.
The Health Council feels the Red Hot Children's Fiesta is an important event for children to get out and play and for parents to learn about the services available in our county.
For more information on the Red Hot Children's Fiesta call 505-388-1198 ext. 10 or email kmilligan@grmc.org. In case of bad weather, a 'Rain Day' is scheduled for the following weekend.
