8th Annual Red Paint PowWow January 20-22, 2012

Cost is $8/person/day with Senior Citizens & Children under 12 at $5/person/day and Competitive Dancers $3. Red Paint Intertribal Council.

The 8th Annual Red Paint PowWow is a competition among Native Americans from across the continent, held in memory and recognition of the Chihene Apache who lived — and continue to live — in Southwestern New Mexico.
Traditional dancers compete for prizes in a number of categories, accompanied by native drummers and singers. Doors open at 9 am daily, and Native American handmade products are available inside the arena and outside throughout the powwow.
Friday:

Gourd Dancing - 11 am & 5:30 pm
Grand Entries - 1 pm & 7:30 pm
Closing - 11 pm
Sunday:

Award & Closing - 6 pm
The Red Paint Powwow is looking for sponsors. The Red Paint Powwow is an important and inspiring event, both a culturally and socially significant gathering for residents and visitors of this region. The Powwow plays a major role in bringing tourists to Silver City in a slow time of year. No donation too small. It is your generous donation that will provide and cover the cost of putting on the Red Paint Powwow! Your donation is tax-deductible through the Black Range Resource Conservation & Development, Inc. a Southwest NM nonprofit organization. Donors will be recognized in the program and by announcement throughout the event. (see below) Checks can be made out to the Red Paint Powwow/Black Range RC & D and mailed to Red Paint Powwow, P.O. Co-Sponsor: $750 to $999 – Recognition: Name in Program, Recognized as Sponsor of Men’s Grass, Men’s Fancy, Women’s Jingle Dress, Women’s Fancy Shawl, Teen Girls Northern Traditional & Southern Cloth combined events. (6 events)
Sponsor: $1,000 to $1,499 – Name in program, recognized as Sponsor of Men’s & Women’s Golden Age, Men’s Women’s Southern Cloth, Teen Boys’ & Girls’ Northern Traditional & Southern Straight & Southern Cloth combined events. (9 events)
