Tenth Annual Pinos Altos Art Fair
June 14, 2008; 1 pm

Activities —> Events and Festivals
Where is it?
Pinos Altos Art FairPinos Altos was formed as an early mining town in Grant County, and still retains its historic feel and original architecture. To find it and the Art Fair, take New Mexico Highway 15 just 7 miles from its intersection with Highway 180 in Silver City.

Love fine art? Come to the annual Pinos Altos Art Fair in early summer. The fair features more than 40 talented artists and fine crafters. Special “Artist in Action” booths are set up with local artisans demonstrating pottery making and looming.

The fair is sponsored by the local businesses of Pinos Altos in coordination with the Grant County Art Guild.

Pinos Altos Art FairIn addition to this art venue, visitors are lured by the ambiance of this historic little gold-mining town. Pinos Altos, located at an elevation of 7040 feet, began in 1860 when three frustrated 49ers stopped to take a drink in Bear Creek and discovered gold. In addition to offering beautiful mountain views of the Gila National Forest, the Main Street of this charming old gold mining town, where the fair takes place, looks like an old western movie set. Many of the buildings date back to the 1800's and have been restored and decorated with original memorabilia and artifacts, mostly 19th Century Americana. History buffs will enjoy their tour of the Pinos Altos Historical Museum and will be lured by the appearance of Fort Cobre.

For more information about the Pinos Altos Art Fair, contact Pinos Altos Organization at (505) 388-5202 or email them at silverwinds@gilanet.com.
