Whether you are a competitive BBQer, a vendor, a local with a killer brisket or green chile stew or hot wings recipe or just want to sample and chow down with your Dad on some of the best food anywhere, the Billy the Kid Championship BBQ and Green Chile Cook-Off is the place.
With more than $5,000 in prize money the Billy the Kid Championship BBQ and Green Chile Cook-Off is going to attract some serious contenders with great recipes and fantastically delicious results.

There will be live music, a beer and margarita garden, a Billy the Kid Look-a-like contest, Wild West Shoot-Out, Arts and Crafts, food vendors and lots of fun in the newly named Billy the Kid Plaza. Tons of parking for big BBQ rigs and fans, a huge tent and stage for judging and festivities.
June temperatures are in the low 90's at the warmest and will give desert dwellers cool spot to enjoy some great food and fun. Contestants can arrive and start setting up as early as 3 pm on Thursday the 12th, and you can stay through Sunday.
If you are bringing an RV and want full hookups, Rose Valley RV park is right next door and just walking distance away.
If you want to participate as a competitor plan on preparing all your food on site. This is an IBCA sanctioned event. You need to be set up on Friday by "High Noon" at the latest on the 13th for food inspection. Hot Wings and Green Chile stew will be judged on Friday at 4 and 5 pm. The first of two backyard BBQs will be given away to the public at 6 pm at the first award ceremony.
Saturday the 14th is Championship BBQ day. Judging begins at "High Noon" after the Wild West Shoot Out . At 1 P.M. BBQ Chicken will be judged. 2 P.M. is St. Louis Style Pork Spare Ribs followed by Beef Brisket at 3 P.M.
Samples and vending will be available to the public immediately following judging of each category. The Backyard BBQ will be raffled off to the public after 5 P.M. at the award ceremony, followed by live entertainment in the Big Tent, next to the Beer and Margarita Garden, complete with shade and misters.
